Flat rendering photo of the circumference of a pottery. This is the only pottery decorated with only spiral patterns. This piece exemplifies the rich detailing of Jomon pottery decoration.
Using a semi-circular cross section of a thin bamboo stick split vertically, the design is drawn without hesitation in one breath. A hole was created on the bottom of this pottery, and buried upside down to be used as a tomb.
